The specimen you have chosen is a wampum.  A wampum is made from the quahog clam shell and come in variations of purple & white.  They were made originally by the northeastern Native Americans.   Wampums are known to be very hard and time consuming to make.  Your wampum is naturally polished and created by the Atlantic Ocean.

Wampums originally had multiple uses originally, such as jewelry, gifts and even currency. The patterns of wampums on jewelry and other accessories began to have symbolic meaning by the Native American tribes.   Wampum’s come in variations of purple and white.
